YOGA CLASSES OFFERED:

HOT YOGA Classes and Workshops:

Hot Yoga Classes are in a room heated to 100-105 degrees with 50-60% humidity. Classes are 60-90 min. depending on the particular class. Add a little variety to your practice with Hot Yoga Flow! This class includes most of the postures in the BikYasa sequence, adds popular poses from other yoga practices and fuses them together. Variations will be offered for students who are ready to explore and playfully deepen their personal practice. Each flow class will be unique without straying too far from the basics.

Private Group Classes Available:

If you have a group of 4 to 5 people who want to attend Hot Yoga Classes but the times available conflict with your schedule, contact the office to schedule a private class at your convenience. NEEDED FOR CLASS: If you are using studio mats you will need a full size towel.

Vinysasa Flow:

Flow Yoga is about linking the breath with the pose. One moves from pose to pose in a smooth, easy manner, like meditation in motion. On a deeper level, as resistance is released and tension is shed, you flow with the present moment. This class is for all levels as variations are shown for the postures.

Introduction to Yoga:

If you have never stepped foot on a yoga mat; never heard of Down Dog, Warrior I, or Child’s Pose; never heard the word yoga; or would like to renew your practice then this is the series for you! The series has been designed to offer the beginning yoga student (or a yogi who needs a refresher) a foundation on which to build their practice. You will learn the benefits of yoga, a brief philosophy of yoga, and terminology you’ll quickly become familiar with. In addition you will get an introduction to some of the classic yoga postures, breathing techniques, and attention to alignment within each pose.

Restorative Yoga:

Relax and let go in Restorative Yoga. Come enjoy an hour of bliss as we gently open the body through gentle supported stretching. These classes are designed to restore the body, mind, and spirit.

Limited mobility/chair workshops:

Workshops will be offered through the year for those with limited mobility. Postures will be supported by a chair as it will assist you through your practice as you build strength, balance, and focus.

WHY YOGA?

Top 10 Reasons to Try Yoga

1. STRESS RELIEF: Yoga reduces the physical effects of stress on the body by encouraging relaxation and lowering the levels of the stress hormone, cortisol. Related benefits include lowering blood pressure and heart rate, improving digestion and boosting the immune system, as well as easing symptoms of conditions such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, asthma and insomnia.

2. PAIN RELIEF: Yoga can ease pain. Studies have demonstrated that practicing Yoga asanas (postures), meditation, or a combination of the two, reduced pain for people with conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, auto-immune diseases and hypertension as well as arthritis, back and neck pain and other chronic conditions.

3. BETTER BREATHING: Yoga teaches people to take slower, deeper breaths. This helps to improve lung function and trigger the body’s relaxation response.

4. FLEXIBILITY: Yoga helps to improve flexibility and mobility, increasing range of movement and reducing aches and pains.

5. INCREASED STRENGTH: Yoga asanas (postures) use every muscle in the body, helping to increase strength literally from head to toe. Yoga also helps to relieve muscular tension.

6. WEIGHT MANAGEMENT: Yoga (even less vigorous styles) can aid weight control efforts by reducing the cortisol levels, as well as by burning excess calories and reducing stress. Yoga
also encourages healthy eating habits and provides a heightened sense of well-being and self-esteem.

7. IMPROVED CIRCULATION: Yoga helps to improve circulation and, as a result of various poses, more efficiently moves oxygenated blood to the body’s cells.

8. CARDIOVASCULAR CONDITIONING: Even gentle yoga practice can provide cardiovascular benefits by lowering resting heart rate, increasing endurance, and improving oxygen uptake during exercise.

9. BETTER BODY ALIGNMENT: Yoga helps to improve body alignment, resulting in better posture and helping to relieve back, neck, joint, and muscle problems.

10. FOCUS ON THE PRESENT: Yoga helps us to focus on the present, to become more aware and to help create mind and body health. It opens the way to improved coordination, reaction time and memory.
